Today we have a Kaze Master Pro Fan controller unit from the great guys over at Scythe, one of their latest fan controllers from their line of PC and server accessories.
Scythe have been producing high quality components and accessories for many years, each model building on the quality and performance of the last.

The Kaze Master Pro, being their latest design features all of the functions and options of previous designs in a much sleeker and efficient package, making this the must have accessory for performance PC enthusiasts and gamers alike.

What is it?
The Kaze Master Pro is essentially a fanspeed controller and hardware monitor, allowing direct control and monitoring of 6 individual fans and 6 individual thermometers.

The compact design features 6 fanspeed dials along the bottom of the unit and two selectors either side of the digital readout, which are used to select which bank’s information is displayed.

Who is this aimed at?
The Kaze Master Pro is aimed at PC enthusiasts, as information on various temperatures and direct control of fan speed is much more useful to owners of high performance PC’s than it is to the average computer which is rarely used for anything other than email and web browsing.

Performance and features
The unit features support for 6 individual thermometers (supplied) and distributes power from a single PSU connection to 6 individual fans, with the speed of each being individually adjustable from the front panel.

The two bank selectors on the left and right adjust which information is displayed, the display can only show the temperature and fanspeed of one particular bank per side so at any given moment you can only actively view the information from two fans and two thermometers.

The left dial switches between banks 1-3 and the right dial between banks 4-6 respectively.

Another nice feature is the alarm system, if during normal use one of the connected fans should fail or become obstructed by a cable, an alarm will sound together with a visual warning of which fan has failed.

The same is true for thermal problems, should one of the connected temperature sensors detects a component has exceeded 75′c/165′f the alarm will again sound and the readout will inform you which thermometer has triggered the alarm.

To make sure all connected fans properly start when the machine is booted, an alarm will also sound notifying you of which fans failed to start, allowing you to turn the dial for that fan to maximum, thus providing full voltage for the fan to start, this is because some fans require more than the minimum 3.5v which is selectable on the unit.

Once the fan has started after power is restored via the speed dial, the alarm will stop.

Pros

  • Sleek design, fits nicely in to any case via a spare optical drive bay
  • Supports up to 6 fans and 6 temperature sensors
  • High build quality
  • Comes with all the cables needed to set up
  • Allows switching from Celsius to Fahrenheit
  • Fanspeed alarm can be muted

Cons

  • Only available in Black
  • Bank selector dials are way too stiff to turn easily
  • Cable management becomes an issue when multiple sensors are connected

Conclusion
The Kaze Master Pro is a great addition to any gamers PC, allowing for maximum flexibility and control, as well as giving piece of mind in providing accurate temperatures for any components the user wishes to monitor.

The long list of features and functions, coupled with the high build quality puts the unit strides ahead of alternatives currently on the market, making the Kaze Master Pro the obvious choice to anyone in the market for a fanspeed controller or temperature monitor.

It gives me great pleasure to give the Kaze Master Pro our Editors Choice Award, we highly recommend this product!
